Coldest Day of the Year

lowtemp.jpgAlthough it’s too early to call, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) reports that last Tuesday was the coldest day so far this year. Temperatures in Metro Manila hit a low of 18.6 degrees Celsius, at least 5 degrees lower than normal for this time of year. It was 9.2 degrees in the mountain city of Baguio.

Forecasts say this cool weather will continue until the second week of February. I wish it would last until summer though. I’m particularly enjoying this weather and don’t mind bundling up with extra layers in the morning. The breeze makes the idea of spending some chill time on a park bench a delightful proposition. If only I did not have to work, mid-afternoon walks also sound tempting.

And just as if it were on cue, my friend who’s visiting from abroad sent me this text message just now. “The weather is very nice these last two days. I think Manila has lost its heat…I’m enjoying this beautiful evening.”
