SEA Games: Day 2

The first athletics medal of the day went to Mary Grace Milgar, a silver in the women’s 400 meter hurdles. La Union native Milgar improved on her bronze medal finish in Cebu back in 2005.

Jobert Delicano celebrates after setting a new Philippine record in the Men’s Triple Jump. This is the first time a Filipino has cleared the 16 meter mark. He eventually settled for Bronze after he was unable to complete his remaining jumps due to an hamstring injury.
The Philippine Athletic team went home with 3 silvers and 3 bronze medals on Day 2 of the SEA Games but the gold medal remained unattainable.
The first gold of the day came unexpectedly from Ryan Arabejo in the Men’s 200 meter backstroke. The 17-year old home grown talent, whose main event isn’t even the backstroke came from behind to finish the race first.

Miguel Molina powers home in the breast stroke leg of the 400m individual medley. He edged out rival Muhammad Nasution of Indonesia by 400 hundredth of a second to win the Philippines’ second gold medal of the day.
