David Pogue Owes Me an iPhone!
Funny that David Pogue mentions the case of the cracked iPhone on his New York Times column today. I was just going to say, “David I love you man, but you owe me a new iPhone!”
You see my iPhone has been through two “episodes” in its 10-month stint with me. The first was back in August, shortly after its purchase. Its battery had drained from normal use but no amount of charging would bring it back to life. Then last month, half conscious and jet lagged I dropped my phone out of a mini-van as I was about to step out. My iPhone fell face first, leaving a spider web-like crack on the glass.
What do these two events have in common? David Pogue!
You see David does this regular video podcast for NYT & CNBC and it is one of my favorites. And although I do/watch a lot of stuff on my iPhone, I just happened to be watching his video podcast right before both these events happened. Coincidence? I think not.
Back in August of last year while waiting for a rehearsal to start I was watching a piece he did on online video rentals. I did nothing else, put my iPhone in my bag only to find out later that it would never come back to life. Then last March I was sitting on a bench watching his piece on “green players” right before I was picked up to go to dinner. I did nothing else after that as well and the rest as you know is history.
My iPhone still works and I have a couple of new Pogue videos to watch – but I’m not touching them for now. So David if you get this message, send me an email and I’ll send you my address.
